SPINEFIT CHIRO & PHYSIO

Chiropractor and Physiotherapist in Mont Kiara & Sri Hartamas

Spinefit Chiro & Physio first established its roots as a chiropractic and physiotherapy clinic in KL in the leafy suburb of Mont Kiara late 2014

Fast forward to 6 years of chiropractic and physiotherapy in Sri Hartamas, we remain as a team of professional chiropractors and physiotherapists who believe that health is more than just a body lying down on the table – we want you to understand your body and take control of what will carry you throughout your life.

We help people in pain avoid surgery so that the pause button on their life doesn’t last forever.

Reach the goals that you want… Get out of pain. Sit at work without getting a headache or backache. Walk more than 500 metres. Play with your grandchildren. Run that marathon.

GOALS & MISSION

FULFILLING COMMUNITY NEEDS THROUGH MEDIA PRESENCE & CORPORATE EDUCATION

We realised there was a lack of education in the community on the importance of their physical well-being, especially among corporate businesses whose spinal health would benefit from regular chiropractic treatment. We began solving the problem by working with communities like:

  • Grab
  • pwc
  • KPMG
  • Wework, and more.
  • In recent times, Spinefit moved these sessions online, such as with Liberty Insurance and ENRA.

Spinefit was also featured on a few leading news outlets to share about our dedicated efforts towards the cause:

  • SAYS
  • Astro Awani
  • Sinchew Pocket Times, and more!

As we journeyed, we saw massive improvements in health awareness among various communities, especially between 2015 to 2018.

COLLABORATION OVER COMPETITION

At Spinefit, we prioritise a collaborative effort that will give each Practice Member the best results. We believe that different approaches have their own strengths.

Holding on to this belief, one of our specialities is in working together & supporting many professionals over the past years:

  • Sabah State Track Cycling team
  • KL Saracens Rugby Club
  • Professional football players in the Malaysian Football League
  • Close teamwork with our neighbourhood GP & radiologist, whom we refer to when clinically required
  • Referrals to trusted fellow professionals when needed (Pilates, performance training, diagnostic centers, orthopedics)

INNOVATE & ADAPT TO STAY AHEAD

We faced many difficulties in reaching the public during the COVID-19 Lockdown which propelled us to innovate and explore the possibilities of Telehealth.

Telehealth is an alternative for those wishing for a solution to their problems in the comfort of their own home. At the time of writing, we have been getting consistent enquiries about Telehealth while receiving good feedback from our Practice Members!

  • Online video consultations
  • Access to professional healthcare advice in a safe manner
  • Personalised mobile app recovery programme that you can view anytime, anywhere

VISION

The story doesn’t end here. Our North Star is to see more Malaysians adopting a healthier lifestyle and care more about their own health and well-being. We aim to achieve this through our combined strength at Spinefit and with the support of other industry professionals who also care to keep Practice Members doing what they love.

Our Team

Jason Chia, D. C.

Doctor of Chiropractic (Assoc. Chiropractor)

Dr. Jason is our very own homegrown, born-and-bred in Kuala Lumpur chiropractor! With on the ground experience volunteering with the Dignity for Children Foundation and multiple spinal screenings whilst completing his studies, he soon realised the importance of nurturing the surrounding community. Armed with that knowledge, he chose to serve his roots after graduating with his Bachelor of Chiropractic (Hons)!

Flexibility and open-mindedness are one of his key life values, which applies strongly in his clinical practice. He keeps an open view when assessing conditions, making sure not to disregard or dismiss anybody or any symptoms that comes through his door. A humble person, you can be sure to find a welcoming and listening ear in him.

When not in the clinic, you’ll find Dr. Jason enjoying the outdoors with his family, playing basketball, and looking forward to all the after-event meals.

Abiramy Subramaniam, D. C.

Doctor of Chiropractic (Assoc. Chiropractor)

Dr. Abiramy is a highly trained and dedicated chiropractor with training in the field of chiropractic, nutrition and musculoskeletal systems among others. She has a passion for helping Practice Members recover to their full potential through a medium of diversified evidence-based techniques. Prior to joining the team, she has experience practicing at one of Sabah’s most established chiropractic and physiotherapy clinics.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) Chiropractic from the International Medical University in Kuala Lumpur as well as certificates in treating individuals with specific sports injuries from the The International Federation of Sports Chiropractic (FICS). With her specialty and years of experience, she was selected as a volunteer chiropractor for the 2019 “Legends of Liverpool and Manchester United” football match held in Kota Kinabalu!

Dr. Abiramy is a humble person who enjoys volunteering in her free time as well as winding down to some video games. A compassionate person, Dr. Abiramy is definitely a great addition to our team.

If being a qualified chiropractor isn't enough, Dr. Abiramy has recently gone back to university to pursue a Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree!

Sharvinpal Kaur, D. C.

Doctor of Chiropractic (Assoc. Chiropractor)

Dr. Sharvin joins us with a wide extensive experience having practiced in one of Malaysia’s largest chiropractic chains for many years since graduating.

She brings with her the experience of working in a multi-care environment, where she treated a range of patients ranging from young children, to active individuals, to the elderly. Combining multiple patient care assessments and consultations as well as diagnosing neuromusculoskeletal conditions and performing corrective adjustments, this has given her an advantage in treating a multitude of conditions.

Dr. Sharvin is currently completing her Webster Technique Certification that focuses on pregnant women and is also a member of the International Chiropractic Paediatrics Association.

Dr. Sharvin has also an interest in writing having done part time content writing during her tertiary years, and you can usually find her practicing yoga, pilates, or spin in her free time!

Her decision to join us is to expand her treatment approach as she acknowledges the strengths of what physiotherapy can do to assist in an individuals’ recovery!

Aaron Lau, D. C.

Doctor of Chiropractic (Clinic Director)

Dr. Aaron graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) from the world-renowned New Zealand College of Chiropractic, accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education Australasia (CCEA). Proficient and experienced in various chiropractic techniques, he has served in Malaysia since 2010 and has worked with thousands of clients across all age groups. A sought after speaker for chiropractic and wellness both locally and internationally, Dr. Aaron has also previously served on the executive committee of the Association of Chiropractic Malaysia (ACM).

Dr. Aaron is currently spearheading our expansion into Melbourne, Australia (Reg No. CHI0002055720).

Jer Shin, Lum

Physiotherapy Rehab Specialist

Jer Shin is our very own in-house analytics genius! Dependable and a go-getter, he has been helping our Practice Member's get on track for the past 5 years, not including the many years spent in some of Klang Valley's busiest hospitals. He holds an honours degree in Physiotherapy from University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and is a member of the Malaysian Physiotherapist Association. With that invaluable experience, Jer Shin has been able to effectively understand a Practice Members’ condition and come up with a personalised recovery plan that yields results.

Jer Shin is a certified kinesiology and GEMt Australia (Global Education of Manual Therapists) trained dry needling practitioner. He utilises his training along with his analytical skills to assess our Practice Member's faulty movement patterns, and treats their imbalances to reduce pain and enhance their performance.

To add on to Jer Shin's learning and passion in the area of sports rehabilitation, he has worked along many various sporting events around Kuala Lumpur to provide on and off-field physio treatments for elite and high performance athletes since joining Spinefit. He has also gained certification as a medic for any World Rugby sanctioned events and is currently the lead practitioner responsible for the care and rehabilitation of the Cycology Team Sabah state track cycling team.

For leisure, Jer Shin enjoys cycling and meeting other like-minded individuals that can bring up challenging topics for them to discuss together.

Hannah Chong

Physiotherapy Rehab Specialist

Hannah is our first Spinefit team-member hailing from Kuching, Sarawak. Having completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons) and as a member of the Malaysian Physiotherapy Association, she has had previous experience in both major general hospitals to private rehabilitation centres.

Hannah is a big champion in movement and actively structures her rehab plans to get Practice Members back into proper movement and function during their recovery. She believes in forming professional relationships with her patients that value honesty and transparency in all aspects of treatment. She is always willing to tailor treatments based on what the patient desires and considers the most effective means with which to achieve their desired outcomes.

A strong advocate of continuous professional education for the benefit of her patients, she strongly believes that when a practitioner stops learning, it’s time to retire. One of her certifications involves Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) training to equip her with the right techniques to help young children and adolescents with correcting their movement throughout their developmental years. She is also a trained extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) practitioner, which has helped the overall care and rehabilitation of the young athletes that come her way.

A self-professed introvert, Hannah enjoys reading and on some weekends, hunting for the best ramen noodle bar in Kuala Lumpur.

Keith Tan

Marketing and Operations

While the team of practitioners work hard to look after the wellbeing of Practice Members, Keith works in the background to make sure the Spinefit ship remains tight.

With sales and marketing experience in the Advertising, Construction and IT sector, Keith has managed both large and medium sized client accounts and gets a kick out of surpassing expectations. He takes a people-centric approach, believing that while tasks must be executed well, nurturing good relationships is crucial.

Keith was recently interviewed by Astro’s Awani Review to share his thoughts on the current chiropractic and physiotherapy health industry in Malaysia.

He has a Bachelor of Science and Graduate Diploma in Business from Auckland, New Zealand. He is often found either behind the front desk or in the pantry making flat whites for anyone who asks nicely!

Workplace Health & Wellness

As we try and achieve our goal of seeing a stronger healthier Malaysia, we do so by sharing our knowledge and expertise with those at the workplace. Why the workplace specifically? Because we spend a good majority of our day at work and unfortunately for some, seated at a desk for prolonged hours.

At Spinefit, we want to help organisations address some these health issues as a result of their posture at work early and hopefully by doing so, prevent any serious effects that may have long-term consequences.

We structure our wellness sessions to cater to the needs of each individual workplace. Besides running a health talk, we can also help businesses with their workplace ergonomics or provide on-site postural screening for their team(s).

Here are some notable organisations/platforms where we have previously conducted our workplace health and wellness sessions with or have been featured in:
